Sigma Tau Delta:  The International English Honor Society (Penn Chapter)

Sigma Tau Delta has been, since 1924, the International English Honor Society. It confers distinction for high achievement in English language and literature in undergraduate, graduate, and professional studies. SigmaTD now has over 700 active chapters worldwide.

Penn English Undergraduate Advisory Board (UAB) Members will become SigmaTD honorees if:

• They are English majors with a minimum 3.3 GPA
• They are in their graduating semester
• They have been an active UAB member for at least two semesters and organized at least three UAB-hosted events for English majors and minors

What other forms of recognition does the Penn English Department confer upon its students?

In addition to the UAB/SigmaTD honors, majors are eligible to apply for the English Honors Program (thesis track). The Department also sponsors a variety of Prizes, many of which are open to students in English classes even if they are not current majors or minors. Visit english.upenn.edu for more details.
