This Sunday, October 18, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Eastern Time, C19: The Society of Nineteenth-Century Americanists and Penn English will co-host a virtual roundtable in memory of Amy Kaplan.

The event will be moderated by Susan Gillman of the University of California, Santa Cruz, and Priscilla Wald of Duke University. Eight of Amy’s colleagues in the field of American Studies, including two current members of the Penn English faculty and several of Amy’s former students, will read passages from her work and offer their reflections and memories. It’ll be a lovely occasion to celebrate Amy through her brilliant writing and her impact on several generations of her fellow scholars.
