First-Year Seminar: Fundamentals of Storytelling

How do we write stories? This first-year seminar focuses on the fundamentals of storytelling. We’ll examine the tools of the craft—including plot, setting, character, and point of view—through reading and writing assignments that lead us to discover the many choices we have to develop our own voices. Students can expect frequent and extensive writing assignments and an intensive introduction to the serious study of literature and creative writing.
