Suzanne L. Barnett (BA, Hunter College, 2004; PhD, University of Pennsylvania, 2012). My areas of research include British romanticism, British literature and culture of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, Percy and Mary Shelley, William Blake, William Godwin, Jane Austen, 1790s radicalism, the history of children’s literature, classical literature and culture in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, popular culture, poetry and poetics, landscape aesthetics, consciousness and subjectivity, and gender studies. My doctoral dissertation at Penn was entitled Romantic Paganism: Ecstasy and Excess in the Shelley Circle.
Along with recent Penn graduate student Kate Gustafson, I am currently working on a complete edition of William Godwin’s children’s books for Romantic Circles.
