This course explores the relationship between visual art and writing, considering the plethora of ways that writers engage with art and how artists use writing. In addition to examining text-rich art works and critical writing on art, possible readings include Glenn Ligon, Distinguishing Piss from Rain, Eileen Myles, The Importance of Being Iceland, and David Wojnarwicz, Closer to the Knives.
