Susan Bee

Susan Bee is a painter, editor, writer, and book artist who lives in New York City. She coedits with Mira Schor, M/E/A/N/I/N/G Onlinehttp://www.writing.upenn.edu/pepc/meaning/. Bee is currently coediting a special 25th year anniversary issue of the journal. The first issue of M/E/A/N/I/N/G was published in December 1986 and 20 issues were published over the next 10 years. In 2000, M/E/A/N/I/N/G: An Anthology of Artist's Writings, Theory, and Criticism, was published by Duke University Press. Bee has had solo shows at A.I.R. Gallery, Kenyon College, William Paterson College, Virginia Lust Gallery, and Columbia University. Her artist's books include collaborations with Susan Howe, Johanna Drucker, Charles Bernstein, Regis Bonvicino, and Jerome Rothenberg. Bee teaches in the Art Criticism and Writing MFA program at the School of Visual Arts and in the MFA program at the Vermont College of the Arts. She is represented by Accola Griefen Gallery and A.I.R. Gallery in New York. She has had fellowships and grants from Yaddo, the Virginia Center for the Arts, the National Endowment for the Arts, and the New York State Council for the Arts. Bee has lectured widely including at Kelly Writer’s House, the University of Caen (France), Maison de Poesie (Paris), the Drawing Center (NY), also in China, Korea, and Cuba..
