Queer Archives, Aesthetics, and Performance

ENGL 0785.401
also offered as: THAR 0785
Monday 1:45-4:44pm

This course focuses on questions of how to access and represent the past, with a focus on queer, Black, feminist, and other minoritarian archives. We approach this question through hands-on work with historical archives: we offer training in archival methods and in scholarly debates about ethics and epistemology; through engagement with the work of artists who make archives central to their practice; and through students’ own work in the form of performance or media-based archival practices such as or history, interviews, and podcasts.
