Rowan Carlacci is a doctoral student in the Penn English programme specialising in early medieval England and Carolingian Europe. Her research explores concepts of timekeeping in the early medieval Latin West, and the influence of timekeeping and temporal issues in music, grammar, and history writing of the period. She takes particular interest in the transmission and influence of Late Classical didactic models and cosmologies into the medieval period.
Rowan graduated cum laude from Columbia University with a B.A. in History and Linguistics, and holds an M.A. in Medieval Literature from the University of York.
