Caroline (Caz) Batten received the Best Article of Feminist Scholarship on the Middle Ages prize from The Society for Medieval Feminist Scholarship. The prizewinning essay “Dark Riders: Disease, Sexual Violence, and Gender Performance in the Old English Mære and Old Norse Mara” was published in the Journal of English and Germanic Philology.
