FQT/GSWS is delighted to announce that David L. Eng will deliver the 2021 Kessler Lecture on Thursday, December 2, 6-8pm.

The lecture, entitled "(Gay) Panic Attack," will be preceded by introductions to Eng's work and influence by Judith Butler, Jasbir Puar, and Ava Kim.

David Eng is Richard L. Fisher Professor of English and a member of the programs in GSWS, Asian American Studies, and Comparative Literature. This event is part of the celebration of his field-defining work on queer studies, which has been honored with the 2021 Kessler Award by the CUNY Center for Lesbian and Gay Studies. Since 1992, the Kessler Award has been given annually to a scholar who has produced a substantive body of work that has had a significant influence on the field of LGBTQ Studies. No applications or nominations are accepted for the Kessler award. Most recent winners have included Roderick Ferguson, Jasbir Puar, and Amber Hollibaugh; you can see the full list of Kessler winners HERE.
