also offered as: GSWS 096, COML 096
instructor(s):
TR 3-4:30pm
This course will offer an introductory survey of the fields of feminist, queer, and trans theory. What are the relationships among one’s gender and one’s racial identification, bodily abilities, class position, global location, and sexual desires and practices? We will read both foundational and recent texts in each of these three fields to consider their points of agreement and overlap as well as their tensions and differences. We will also think about literary and artistic representation through reading some fiction and poetry and visiting to the ICA. Assignments will include several short papers, and regular attendance is required.
