Department of English

In this class, we will read and write personal essays and poems. The class will follow the familiar workshop structure, alternating between critical discussions and collective conversation about your own work as we respond to each other's writing in order to create new drafts.

Emphasis will be on revision, camaraderie, and surprise. We'll read a range of moving verse and prose by some of the most exciting contemporary writers as well as classic figures in literature.
