Poetry, Music, Sound

ENGL 269.301

To forestall any potential confusion: this will be a course on poetry, not music. But poets often speak of the 'music' of poetry. We will investigate some of the things this might mean, examining oral poetry from Homer to contemporary improvised work, as well as many of the ways poets use sound in their written work.
