Piers Plowman

ENGL 524.301
instructor(s):

 This course is devoted to the study of William Langland's fourteenth-century masterpiece, *Piers Plowman*, a 7,000-line alliterative dream-vision in Middle English. Formally experimental and ideologically cutting-edge, Piers Plowman captured the imagination of fourteenth- and fifteenth-century English writers. I like to think of Langland as the James Joyce of his day! Graduate students from all disciplines and specializing in different periods (esp.  poetics) are welcome to this seminar.
