Reparations and the Human
- Monday, September 15, 2025 - 6:30pm to 8:30pm
Location: Zoom
Join us for a conversation about David L. Eng's latest book, Reparations and the Human. Eng (University of Pennsylvania), Joan Wallach Scott (Institute for Advanced Study), and Michelle Stephens (Rutgers University) will discuss reparations and human rights in the context of the Holocaust and the atomic bombings of Japan, and with particular attention to how reparation functions across both political and psychoanalytic theory. In the wake of catastrophe, how does the Transpacific in the Cold War era provide a limit case for the politics of repair and definitions of the human? Who can be recognized as victims, who must be seen as perpetrators, and who deserves repair?
