In Lit Hub, Paul Hendrickson of the School of Arts & Sciences links his father’s time as a World War II pilot to “The Firebombing,” a James Dickey poem about a U.S. warplane. Dickey’s retelling turned out to be fictionalized, complicating the younger Hendrickson’s association of the poem with his father.
