Introduction to Journalistic Writing

This class will teach the essentials of journalism. It will deal mostly with the fundamentals: How to report and write the news. How to conduct interviews and research a story. How to write profiles and news features. We will also cover more advanced topics, such as writing columns, criticism and opinion pieces. The emphasis will be on writing for daily newspapers, but the course will be of great value to anyone considering a career in television, magazine or online journalism. Even those planning careers outside journalism will benefit from the course's focus on mastering clear, concise and compelling writing.
