Modern Drama: From Then to Now

Fulfills Distributional Course in Arts & Letters

A review of some of the most important plays that classify as modern drama. The course will begin with the 2003 Tony Award for best play: I Am My Own Wife by Doug Wright and will then trace the development of Modern English drama from Becket to Stoppard with examples of works by Eugene O¿Neill, Arthur Miller, August Wilson and other playwrights. The objective of this course is to explore modern plays as literary and cultural artifacts of our times and ourselves.
