This class will be run as a seminar and will require active class participation. The poets we will study include: Anne Finch, Alexander Pope, Jonathan Swift, Thomas Gray, Anna Laetitia Barbauld, Charlotte Smith, William Blake, Samuel Taylor Coleridge, William Wordsworth, John Keats, Lord Tennyson, Christina Rossetti, Elizabeth Barrett and Robert Browning, Thomas Harding, and T.S. Eliot.

Requirements: several short paragraphs for instigating class discussion; three short analytical papers; one longer research paper. Each student must also have an e-mail account.
