This interdisciplinary course explores notions of "Africa and the African Diaspora." Readings, Discussions and Presentations focus on the historical and cultural relationship between Africans and Their Descendants abroad. Readings include works by Richard Wright, Caryl Phillips, Paul Gilroy, Franz Fanon, Lewis Gordon, CLR James, Toni Cade Bambara, Edwidge Danticat, W.E. B. DuBois, Toni Morrison, Aime Cesaire, Leopold Senghor, Molefi Asante, Manthia Diawara, Katherine Dunham, Kwame Anthony Apiah and others.
