Susan Murray

Research interests include: social and industrial histories of the media, visual culture, consumer culture, and the interrelationships between various media systems. Her work has appeared in journals such as Journal of Visual Culture, Cinema Journal, Television and New Media as well as numerous anthologies. Murray is the author of Hitch Your Antenna to the Stars: Early Television and Broadcast StardomĀ (Routledge, 2005) and the coeditor of Reality TV: Remaking Television CultureĀ (NYU Press, 2004--second edition, 2008) with Laurie Ouellette. She is currently working on a project that places "user generated content" within the context of the history of visual amateur media and its relationship with commercial institutions.
