Lorene Cary featured in Penn Today

Lorene Cary, senior lecturer in the English Department, and her course fall 2018 course “Essay, Blog, Tweet, Nonfiction now!” are featured in Penn Today's article, "Writing with Purpose." The course combines community service and creative nonfiction writing, offering students the opportunity to publish on SafeKidsStories.com while encouraging young people in Philadelphia to register to vote and go to the polls in the midterm elections. Recently, the class led a community event, Vote That Jawn, an initiative created by Cary to connect schools and organizations across Philadelphia and give them a platform before the Nov. 6 election.
