Fulfills Distributional Course in Arts & Letters

A review of some of the most important plays that classify as modern drama. The course will begin with the 2003 Tony Award for best play: I Am My Own Wife by Doug Wright and will then trace the development of Modern English drama from Becket to Stoppard with examples of works by Eugene O┬┐Neill, Arthur Miller, August Wilson and other playwrights. The objective of this course is to explore modern plays as literary and cultural artifacts of our times and ourselves.
