ENGL 571.401
instructor(s):
T 3-6

My grad course will be on Mysticism, Madness and Literature. We will be examining a wide selection of texts from a spectrum of historical periods ranging from medieval writings by women who were considered to be Christian "mystics" through contemporary novels which feature characters who are related to the literature on mysticism. We will also be looking at writing by Zen "masters" and practitioners and critical commentaries on these texts. A focal point will be the later work of Luce Irigaray.
