In this course, we will read, discuss, and analyze the informal essay.  Although we will use essays from an anthology and from current periodicals as guides, most of our time will be spent on your own writing.  You will be required to write nearly every week on topics taken from a broad area--for example, personal experience, travel, cultural trends, interesting individuals--and your work will be critiqued during frequent workshops.
