Major British Poets 1660-Present
James English profile

TR 3-4:30

This course will start with the Lyrical Ballads of Wordsworth and treat a range of both canonical and non-canonical poetry of the Romantic period. We will then consider some legacies of, and reactions against, Romanticism from the later nineteenth century to the present, including contemporary representations of the Romantic poet in fiction and film. Students will write two short essays and one 10-12 page research paper; there will be several midterm exams, but no final exam.
