Reading and discussion of Shakespeare's tragedies (Julius Caesar, Romeo and Juliet, Hamlet, Othello, King Lear, Macbeth, Antony and Cleopatra, Coriolanus) and tragicomedies (Troilus and Cressida, Measure for Measure, The Winter's Tale, The Tempest). The emphasis will be on Shakespeare's definition of the fundamental conflicts in the human condition.
