Richard Wiley is the author of five novels and a recipient of the PEN/Faulkner Award for Soldiers in Hiding. He has lived and worked in Japan, Korea, Nigeria, and Kenya and, with the publication of his latest novel, Ahmed's Revenge, has set a novel in each of those locales. Recently he has received grants from the NEA/Japan-United States Friendship Commission and the Japan Foundation, for work on a forthcoming novel, Commodore Perry's Minstrel Show. Wiley was born in Fresno, California, and is a graduate of the University of Puget Sound, Sofia University in Tokyo, and the University of Iowa Writers Workshop. He now teaches creative writing at UNLV. He was a Peace Corps Volunteer in Korea.
