Curriculum Vitae

I am a Ph.D. candidate in English at the University of Pennsylvania. I focus on contemporary fiction, globalization, and environment. My approach combines postcolonial ecocriticism, food studies, and theory of the novel. My current research interrogates the relations between the politics of food and the global environmental novel, focusing on fiction from South Africa, India, and the US. I have published work on South African ecocriticism in the Oxford Handbook of Ecocriticism online, and on Bengali fiction, food, and global modernism in the collection Modernism and Food (University Press of Florida, forthcoming).
