Just Announced: New English Undergraduate Advisory Board Leadership Team, 2026–2027

The Department of English at the University of Pennsylvania is delighted to announce this year’s Undergraduate Advisory Board leadership team: Camilo Jose Baltodano, Yehji Hwang, and Téa Vukosavljević. See below to learn more about our three Co-Chairs, their interests, and their goals for the 2026–2027 academic year.

Camilo Jose Baltodano
Hi! My name is Camilo, and I am a junior double majoring in English and Law & Society with a double minor in Africana Studies and Global Medieval & Renaissance studies. On campus, I am involved in the Penn Undergraduate Moot Court Team, DJ@Penn, and I conduct research at Penn Carey Law School. Outside of Penn, I have worked with state and federal judges in California, as well as global and boutique law firms. Beyond my studies and extracurriculars, I love to cook, try new restaurants, hike, produce and DJ music, and spend time with friends and family!

Interests: Law & Literature, Shakespeare, Cultural Studies, Legal Humanities, and Early Modern Literature.

Goals for this year: My goal is to make sure the UAB reaches English majors on interdisciplinary paths, including double majors and students with interests outside the department, who might not otherwise see English as a place for them. I also want to build more community between prospective students, current undergraduates, graduate students, and faculty in the department.

Yehji Hwang
Yehji Hwang is a sophomore in the College of Arts & Sciences from Ellicott City, Maryland, who is pursuing a double-major in English and Physics. Outside of her studies, she is committed to the arts on campus, representing the school as a singer in the Penn Glee Club. She also dances as part of breaking crew Freaks of the Beat and is a member of The Excelano Project, Penn’s premier spoken word poetry group. She deeply values the communities she is a part of, and based on her identity and experiences is further interested in leadership research, literature, and cultural memory. She is incredibly excited to work with the UAB this year, and looks forward to creating spaces for community, connection, and collaboration within the English Department!

Téa Vukosavljević
Téa Vukosavljević is a sophomore studying English. She loves to read (of course!), creatively write, throw pottery, and people-watch on Locust’s benches. Her goal for the UAB is to leave as many people as possible with the feeling that the English Department is a warm, welcoming, well-read, wonderful place to be!

If you would like to become a member of the English Undergraduate Advisory Board and to participate in upcoming activities, please contact the UAB Co-Chairs or the Associate Director of Undergraduate Studies, Dr. Becky Friedman, to join the mailing list and get connected. Members of the UAB are expected to attend at least two departmental events during the academic year.
