The George A. and Eliza Gardner Howard Foundation grants yearly unrestricted fellowships to assist in the intellectual and artistic growth of early mid-career individuals. The Howard Foundation awards a limited number of fellowships each year for independent projects in selected fields, targeting its support specifically to early mid-career individuals, who have completed at least one major project and demonstrate potential to be future leaders in their fields.

Professor Brilmyer won the fellowship for her current book project, Queer Rigidity, under contract with Duke University Press.
