Dissertation: Bad Form: Modernist Criticism and the Cultural Life of the Aesthetic, 1909-1929, examines the practice of literary criticism in the modernist period with a particular focus on how modernist critics understood and responded to the social functions and forms of the aeshthetic.
Current research: Collaborating with Rachel Buurma on a study of the relationships between New Criticism, later twentieth-century forms of historical and cultural criticism, and pedagogical practices in the university.
