A Decalogue for Computer Classes

1. Read your email in private and somewhere else.

2. Play Solitaire in solitude.

3. Surf the Web on your own time and in your own space.

4. Don't primp in front of your home page: it's narcissistic.

5. When someone is talking in class, look at that person not the computer screen and try to react as if you're human not a robot who keyboards.

6. If you don't know something you need to know, ask someone who knows it. And ask again, until you really know it. Ignorance isn't the bliss it's cracked up to be.

7. Copy frequently used paths or commit them to memory and you won't get lost in cyberspace.

8. Talking with others engaged in a common enterprize improves your social skills and may even educate you.

9. Real knowledge and absolute deadlines are as essential to the computer classroom as to any other.

10. If the class seems too easy, it's your fault.
