I am a PhD candidate in English at the University of Pennsylvania. I work at the hinge of postcolonial studies and environmental humanities, focusing on twentieth-century and contemporary literature. My interests include globalization, food studies, indigeneity, gender and sexuality, and theory of the novel. My current research examines the politics of food in contemporary environmental fiction from South Africa, South Asia, and the US. I have published work on South African ecocriticism in the Oxford Handbook of Ecocriticism Online (Oxford UP, 2017), and on Bengal, famine, and global modernism in the edited collection Modernism and Food Studies (University Press of Florida, forthcoming).
