Jim English will Chair the fiction panel for the 2016 National Book Award, one of the world's most prestigious literary prizes. Prof. English will bring his expertise as a scholar not only in the contemporary novel but also of literary prizes themselves; he is the author of The Economy of Prestige: Prizes, Awards, and the Circulation of Cultural Value (Harvard UP, 2008). Prof. English will also bring this experience into the undergraduate classroom as he teaches a course in Fall 2016, "Novel of the Year," in which students will read the novels short-listed for the National Book Award.
