Writing at Writers House

ENGL 110.301
instructor(s):

"Writing in the Writers House" will be just that: a creative writing workshop that invites students to engage with writers visiting the Kelly Writers House. Students in this course will explore issues and trends in contemporary writing -- especially poetry -- by reading and responding to the work of authors featured in the Writers House events calendar, including New Zealand poet Wystan Curnow, experimental novelist Robert Coover, and local writer Frank Sherlock. Weekly writing assignments will encourage class participants to experiment with form, to expand possibilities for writing sources, and to develop their writing practice in relation to the work of visiting authors. Expect to attend several evening events and to engage with members of the Writers House community.
