This course traces the history of non-fiction and agit-prop film and performance through the early cinema and modernist avant-garde experiments to postmodern films and performances. Besides writing traditional essays and taking quizes, students will participate in media activism, video production, and experimental panel presentations. They will also have the opportunity to work on constructing documentaries and agit-prop films in an inner city Philadelphia public school (University City High or Shaw Middle School).
