Concentration in Drama

Please see the concentration worksheet and list of eligible courses in English and related fields for this concentration.

The Genre concentration in Drama is designed to encourage the student to study literature in written for the stage in relation to the medium of performance and the material conditions of the theatre, as well as in the context of general currents in literary, cultural, and social history. Students concentrating in Drama are required to take an introductory course in theatre as a medium and drama as a genre (Theatre Arts 100), and are encouraged (and in some cases required) to take courses in a wide range of periods of dramatic writing and theatre history, including literature written for the stage in languages other than English. The concentration should help the student to explore the extraordinary range of dramatic forms, both over time and across cultural boundaries.
