Suzanne L. Barnett (BA, Hunter College, City University of New York, 2004). I am a doctoral candidate finishing a dissertation entitled “Romantic Paganism: Ecstasy, Excess, and Selfhood in the Shelley Circle, 1817-1822.” My areas of research include British romanticism, Percy and Mary Shelley, William Blake, William Godwin, Jane Austen, 1790s radicalism, the history of children’s literature, classical literature and culture in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, popular culture, poetry and poetics, landscape aesthetics, consciousness and subjectivity, and gender studies.
Along with recent Penn graduate student Kate Gustafson, I am currently working on a complete edition of William Godwin’s children’s books for Romantic Circles.
