Jay Kirk’s creative nonfiction has been published in Harper's, GQ, The New York Times Magazine, Chicago Reader, Philadelphia City Paper, Saturday Night and Nerve. His work has been anthologized in Best American Crime Writing 2003, and Best American Crime Writing 2004. He is also included in an anthology of the best of Harper’s Magazine’s undercover & participatory journalism to be published in 2008 by the New Press. He is a recipient of a 2005 Pew Fellowship in the Arts, as well as a 2007 Individual Creative Artists Fellowship from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts. He is currently writing a book about the taxidermist-explorer Carl Akeley, titled Kingdom Under Glass, due out from Bloomsbury in 2009.
