Deferring Admission to the Graduate Program

Students who are admitted to the M.A. or Ph.D. Programs in English may defer their matriculation for one year. They should notify the Graduate Chair of their intentions as early as possible, and no later than April 15th. It is not necessary for students who have deferred to reapply. They should, however, contact the Graduate Program and declare their intention to matriculate by February 1st of the next year, so that their arrival can be taken into account in that year's admissions process.
