The American Literature Seminar meets regularly throughout
the Fall and Spring semesters to discuss works-in-progress presented by
Penn English department faculty and graduate students, as well as by invited
guests from other programs and disciplines. Past presenters have included
Jordan Baker, Kristina Baumli, Hester Blum, Eduardo Cadava, Max Cavitch,
Yoonmee Chang, Eric Cheyfitz, Jonathan Eburne, Susan Forsyth, Kendall Johnson,
Arnold Krupat, Trish Loughran, Susan Mizruchi, Mark Rifkin, Bethany Schneider,
Eric Slauter, Colleen Terrell, Gregory Wolmart, and Christina Zwarg. The
seminar also participates in the Graduate English Association's lecture
series. Past speakers include Wai-Chee Dimock and Sharon Holland.
