Documentary Writing: George Orwell and London

This course will look at British society through the eyes of George Orwell, focusing especially on London and his social reportage. Readings will include Down and Out in Paris and London, The Road to Wigan Pier, and selected essays and journalism. In addition to visiting neighborhoods and sites around London where Orwell lived and worked, students will write some social reportage of their own.
