Gender, Sexuality and Literature

Careful consideration of works produced by and about British women between 1660 and 1800, including genres such as these: novels, letters, drama, poetry, and expository writing. Emphasis will be on the embeddedness of women's imaginative writing in contemporary political and social events. Requirements: primary reading, library research, oral reports, class participation, and essays. Students in disciplines other than English are welcome.
