Contemporary American Literature has been defined as works of Coffee, angst, and experimentation. In this course we will survey this diverse and exciting world. We will look at poets like Baraka, Plath, Ginsberg, Perelman, and Bernstein, graphic novelists including Speigelman and Crumb, prose writers like O'Brien, Morrison, Ellison, Alexie, and Kingston, and film makers including Hitchcock, Lynch, and Coppola. There will be two 6-8 page papers and a final for this course.
