Sarah Ferguson-Wagstaffe profile

TR 1:30-3

In this course we will examine the evolution of the novel from Jane Austen to Oscar Wilde. We will pay particular attention to the ways in which nineteenth-century novels construct subjectivity in terms of gender, sexuality, and class. Additional authors may include Mary Shelley, Emily Bronte, Robert Louis Stevenson, George Eliot, and Charles Dickens. Course requirements include reading responses, a presentation, two essays, and regular attendance and participation.
