Major British Poets 1660-Present
Bob Perelman profile

TR 1:30-3

This course is designed to provide a reasonably detailed grasp of the major phases in British poetry over the last three and a half centuries. We will read poems from Milton, Marvell and Pope, through the Romantics and Victorians, the first explosion of Modernism in London, and beyond to the near-present. This will involve a wide variety of poetries, which we will read from formal and historical perspectives involving meters, genres, approaches to audience, modes of production, and conceptions of the poet.
