TR 9-10:30

Learn "the routine" of creating poetry and expanding the varieties of your expression in this introductory level poetry writing lab. Emphasizing experimentation, we will generate new work with one or two writing exercises in the beginning of some of our class meetings. Prose poems, letter poems, persona, collaborative poems, homophonic translations, shapphic stanzas, and anglo-saxon alliterations are some of the projects we will undertake.

We will read work by published poets focusing on their use of craft and we will workshop our own writing in a supportive environment. Requirements include a final manuscript of 15-18 pages and a poet's journal. Please note this course does not fulfill the writing requirement for College of Arts and Sciences students.
