Major British Poets 1660-Present
John Crowther profile

MTWR 10:40-12:15

Our course takes up a selection of major British poets, from Marvell to the Modernists, reading poetry in the context of major cultural tensions, and noting the complex relations between form and meaning. Students will be asked to engage in close readings and explications of individual poems. Students will write several one-page papers on given issues, three somewhat longer (3-5pp) essays, and a final exam.
