This generation of students is the first to come of age in the era of the internet. As technology breaks down borders-- between people, places, and races-- the question remains whether this generation will be able to overcome past limitations and prejudices. This class will engage a wide variety of "texts" from virtual reality and hypertext on the world wide web to the multicultural utopias of electronic music to contemporary novels and films that explore worlds without borders.
